2020-2021 ARA Initiative
We need your help! The National Archives (NARA) is the caretaker for millions of military personnel files, historical records, and visual/audio media. These are the records that tell our national story. US citizens need and deserve access to the records of our government. Funding for the archives today is $100 million less than ten years ago and only a fraction of the Library of Congress. Please sign the petition and ask Congress to fund the National Archives!

ARA has accepted an invitation to participate in AMSCUP’s 2020 Footage Fest. Board members Myra Miller and Steve Greene will speak on a number of topics including research of NARA’s special media holdings, records of US veterans, and the impact of COVID closures at archives nationwide. We look forward to sharing the exciting work that ARA is doing on behalf of the research community and US public.

We are excited to announce that ARA will be an exhibitor at the National Organization for Veterans Advocates’ 2020 Fall Conference! Our exhibition will focus on how researchers can use the holdings at NARA and other archives to assist veterans with benefits claims. This presentation will highlight the important work that many of our ARA members conduct on behalf of veterans and their families.
